What is NLP?
What is NLP?
Neuro = Neurology
Linguistic = Language (behavior is language)
Programming = Practice and ExperienceNLP is the study and practice of the effects of (conscious and unconscious) language patterns on our neurology. Language is how we code and build our internal “maps” of the external “territory.” These internal maps determine our experiences because we operate not from the territory of objective reality but from our own unique construction (map) of subjective reality. If our coding (perceptual) strategies are less than accurate (which they all are), the conclusions we draw about the world and our experiences in it must to some degree be inaccurate and, thus, our responses are to some degree ineffective and/or inappropriate.The study and practice of NLP provides the methodologies for accurately defining well formed outcomes and “cleaning up” our sensory channels in order that we may more accurately re-present the “territory” within our own neurology.NLP teaches us to be “smarter” because as our internal re-presentations become more accurate we free ourselves of our constricted beliefs about how the world is and how people (should or do) operate thereby freeing ourselves to be fully present to the realities and information available to us in the moment.
NLP brings into consciousness how to know what is happening and gives us more choices in our thinking and behavioral strategies for increased flexibility in our thoughts, emotions, actions and interactions with individuals and systems.
NLP training focuses on four major areas:
- Know what you want.
How to define with some specificity a desired
Effectively using our senses to gather rich
How to behave in ways that moves us toward
our desired outcomes.
How to effectively move toward our outcomes
No short list can communicate the richness or power of the body of work called NLP. While there are hundreds of books on NLP, it is best learned experientially with a facilitator.
We work with and teach using many learning “technologies” but NLP is at the core of most of what we do as it riches and enhances all the others.
We invite you to learn more and get involved. NLP will bring a sensory rich experience back into your life and experiences. The relationship skills (with yourself and others) you learn in the Fast Class will give you a new perspective on how you make choices about every aspect of your experience.
